ITINERARY

 

Day 1 – Depart from UK to Delhi

 

Day 2 – Arrive Delhi

Arrive Delhi and day at leisure. Dinner and overnight at your Delhi hotel.

 

Day 3 – In Delhi

After breakfast, a guided tour of Old and New Delhi, the colourful bazaars and the Mughal architecture of Old Delhi contrasting with the formal splendour of Lutyen’s New Delhi. A visit to the Qutab Minar – the 239ft sandstone tower, an Indo-Islamic architectural wonder of ancient India and also visit the Humanyun’s tomb - One of the most spectacular Mughal buildings, UNESCO’s World Heritage List in 1993. Lastly drive past through Rashtrapati Bhawan, India Gate & other important government buildings. Then on to Old Delhi to see the Jama Masjid, built by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan, it is the largest and one of the most magnificent mosques in India, see the imposing Red Fort and then a fascinating rickshaw ride through Old Delhi, a truly memorable experience. Stroll through bustling markets and bazaars and get a feel for life in India's capital city. Dinner and overnight stay in Delhi. 

Day 4 – Delhi –Agra

Drive from Delhi to Agra (approx. 4hrs), the seat of the imperial Mughal court during the 16th and 17th centuries. Afternoon visit to the Agra Fort and time for shopping. Dinner and overnight in Agra.

Day 5 – Agra –Fatehpur Sikri –Jaipur

After breakfast, ride to the Taj Mahal in a colourful horse-drawn carriage to take in its sublime beauty with the first rays of the morning sun. Built over a period of 22 years by the Mughal Emperor, Shah Jahanin, in the 16th century for his Queen Mumtaz Mahal to enshrine her mortal remains, it is one of the Seven Wonders of the World. Then on to Jaipur (approx 5hrs 30mins) and, en route, visit Fatehpur Sikri, a World Heritage Site. This exquisite city, with its red sandstone, forts, palaces and mosques, was abandoned 14 years after its creation for political reasons. Lunch at Laxmi Niwas Palace Bharatpur. After lunch continue to Jaipur. Dinner and overnight in Jaipur.

Day 6 – In Jaipur

After breakfast, a sightseeing tour of Jaipur including the tapering Hawa Mahal, or "Palace of the Winds" and the Amber Fort, the ancient capital of the Rajput rulers perched atop the hill overlooking a lake. Later, drive to City Palace - the Royal residence and ancient observatory. Time for shopping. Dinner and overnight in Jaipur.

Day 7 –  Jaipur –Jodhpur

After breakfast leave for Jodhpur (approx. 6hrs) and after checking in at your hotel, enjoy a tour of Jodhpur, the second largest city in Rajasthan and known as the ‘blue city’ with the colour blue being in evidence everywhere.  Jodhpur is a magnificent city of palaces, forts and temples and is set in the stark landscape of the Thar Desert. Whilst at the Mehrangarh Fort you have the option of experiencing one of the most exhilarating adventure sports, Ziplining (payable locally) – a chance to ‘fly’ over Jodhpur and get the most incredible aerial view of the beautiful blue city Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay in Jodhpur.

Day 8 –Jodhpur

 After breakfast, the opportunity to visit Bishnoi Village by jeeps, a famous eco-friendly area and a sect of the Hindu religion. Later, at leisure and time to explore Jodhpur or visit the Bazaar Walk in Ghantaghar Market. Dinner and overnight stay in Jodhpur.

Day 9 – Jodhpur –Delhi by Air.

Breakfast and morning at leisure. In time, transfer to the Jodhpur airport for your flight for Delhi. Dinner and overnight at hotel in Delhi.

Day 10– Leave Delhi.

After breakfast transfer to airport for your onwards flight.
